Lack of value chain hindering agriculture production sector ...

FAISALABAD,? European Union experts on Wednesday said that Pakistan was generating good agricultural production but lack of value chain is hindrance to development.

A team of European Union Training Need Analysis- Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) program visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan at VC Chamber.

The delegation comprised of Team Leader Thierry Noyeltte, Senior Economist Heinz Wermer and coordinator Jamal Haider. They said that with a special focus on the value chain, the country can earn heavy foreign exchange by exporting its goods. They said that they were working on the deficient areas that would bring tangible results.

They discussed the agricultural issues and its planning to boost up the sector contributing 22 percent to the Gross Domestic Product.

They said that the agricultural productivity of the country was high but the country was lagging behind in its processing that must be strengthened. They also identified the international markets from where Pakistan can earn heavy money for the progress of the country.
