Back to the Basics ? Thoughts From A Maverick's Perspective

September 16, 2012

It?s been a while since I put up a blog post.

Yes, I say this a lot.

?

I realize that it?s because, since the day I started advertising my blog for people to read (when I wrote ?The Naija Blonde?, I sorta lost the plot. I forgot that my blog is basically personal, and focused on putting up creative content all the time.

?

*sigh*

?

The last few months have been? trying, to say the least. Truth is, at the end of this year (by the grace of God), I?ll have gone through the most difficult year of my life, and I?ll have lived to talk about it. I know that things won?t necessarily get easier, but? ah well. I should probably do some form of a post about it. I don?t know. Maybe I will, maybe I won?t.

?

I think I?ll try to do shit like this more often. Write as a blogger, not a writer. This isn?t to say I?m gonna stop doing creative writing. This year, I?ve written for The Naked Convos and AfroSays, and I think I?m going to keep doing that. I also want to write for Sawaleh (psst! Secret! I?m writing something for them write now), and a few other blogs. So I?m still going to be doing creative writing. I just may not be putting a lot of it up here.

?

Speaking about writing creatively, I was on the last major AfroSays project, ?False Lives?. I?m really proud to have been a part of this project, because it?s probably the biggest thing I?ve ever written. It challenged my creativity a lot. I?m also happy because I was going through a LOT at the time when I wrote it (it took me about five months to write), but I still managed to put down something that a lot of people seemed to like. I?m grateful to The Alchemist for including me in his project, and for being a fantastic editor. Also really grateful to xoAfro (my brother) for helping me through that story; he nagged me into doing it in ways I didn?t imagine I could.

?

xoAfro set me up on the pathway for the next story I have in mind so? watch out.

?

If you haven?t read ?False Lives? on AfroSays, go read it now. Click Here.

?

I also started up a podcast with some of my friends, called The GhenGhen. I really want to tell you guys what it?s about, but I really think it?d be more fun if you simply found out for yourself. So, go to http://www.theghenghen.com/ and peep what I?m doing.

?

Okay then, that?s about it for now. I?ll be doing this more often so? yeah?

I refuse to think according to the set down rules and social conventions; so I usually see things from a different perspective. I write to inform the those who don?t know. I write to remind those who have forgotten. I write to remind those who would like to forget. I write to remind myself. But most of all, I write to seek solace. And even though I preach carefree hedonism, I also believe you have to earn the right to become a carefree hedonist. Hence, there?s no such thing as carefree hedonism. Earn the right to enjoy your life. View all posts by The Capoeira Panda
