The? Aspirus Keweenaw Great Deer Chase will take place August 20 and organizers are still in need of volunteers. Volunteer needs are outlined on the Great Deer Chase website and there is a sign-up sheet at Cross Country Sports in Calumet. Those interested in volunteering can email race director Marc Norton.
Volunteers are needed on August 20 for both the distance races (10 a.m. ? 1:30 p.m. is the maximum time ? most volunteers are needed for only a portion of that) and for the kids races (2 ? 3:30 p.m.).
The event also needs the help of some people who want to play with a big mower starting August 1. We?ve got a few miles of ski trails that need to be mowed. A DR 15hp AT Mower is available.
