Rosia Montana investment, blocked for several years because of disputes about environment protection was included by the government in the National Investments and Jobs Plan and is presented as ?an exploitation project with new environment standards?, where the benefit of the state will be 78% of what the project generates. The project will also protect the patrimony and increase the benefit of the Romanian state. Among the investments mentioned in the same category there are Rovinari thermo-power plant with a new energy group of 500 MW, where China Huadian Engineering will make an investment of 1 billion dollars, a project of 150 million euro for the gas plant at Fantenele Mures, carried out by Marubeni company in partnership with ELCEN.
A year ago, premier Ponta declared that the decision to be made by the government about Rosia Montana project supposed fulfilling three conditions- guarantees about environment protection, re-negotiations about the participation of the Romanian state and removal of political lobby and interest.
Then Ponta had accused president Traian Basescu of lobbying in favor of a private company in Rosia Montana project.
Later on, premier Ponta declared that the government wanted to postpone decisions about schist gas and Rosia Montana projects until after parliamentary elections.
